1. What SnapHang is

SnapHang is a menu bar application for Apple Silicon Macs. It catches screenshots you take and hangs them on a line at the top of your screen, where you can copy, annotate, drag to share or dismiss them. It is distributed through the Mac App Store.

2. Information we collect

None. SnapHang does not collect any personal information, usage statistics, analytics or crash reports. There are no accounts, no sign-ins and no identifiers sent anywhere.

3. Your screenshots stay on your device

Screenshots shown on the line are read directly from folders on your Mac and are never uploaded, transmitted or shared unless you deliberately share one yourself (for example by dragging it to another app). When you remove an item from the line, the file is either left in place or moved to the Trash — exactly as you would expect, and always locally.

4. Local storage

The app stores a small set of preferences — such as your chosen shortcut and the folders it watches — locally in your Mac's user preferences (UserDefaults) under com.app.snaphang. This information never leaves your device and is removed if you delete the app.

5. Screen recording permission

SnapHang can read screenshots that macOS has already saved to your folders. Depending on the macOS version, the system may ask for screen recording permission when the app watches your Desktop or screenshot folders. The permission is granted by you in System Settings, applies only on your own Mac, and the app does not access your screen in any other way.

6. Third-party services

SnapHang contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking software. The only third party involved is Apple, through the Mac App Store: the store handles download, payment (for paid content, if any) and automatic updates. Apple's own privacy practices apply to that store interaction.

7. Children

SnapHang does not target children and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
